Mapleside Farms in Brunswick

Brent

mapleside Farms brunswick

From the Mapleside Farms website: “Mapleside Farms is a 100-acre fully functioning apple orchard located in Brunswick, OH. Mapleside Farms has long been a destination for families and friends to get together to enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal, fresh homegrown produce, piping hot home baked pies and an amazing view of the Northeast Ohio countryside. It’s the kind of place where children who once came to Mapleside with their grandparents now bring their own grandchildren to share the same traditions”.

Today’s Photo: Cleveland Metroparks

I thought that I would post this photo because I am already missing the leaves on the trees. One of the reasons I like living in Ohio is that I always have a new season to look forward to. I always am a little excited for the next season to start. In the winter I can take the kids tobogganing at the Chalet in Strongsville and ice skating in Wade Oval. Then I look forward to the spring because it’s no longer winter. I like winter but it gets old by mid February. Then comes the summer and there is obviously tons of stuff to do during the summer. Then back to fall. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love the weather, all the colors and the holidays. Then it starts all over.

German Cultural Garden

German Cultural Garden Cleveland

Today’s Photo: German Cultural Garden

From the CCG website:

“Second Cultural Garden to be constructed, after the Hebrew Cultural Garden in 1926. German-American Karl Wolfram was instrumental in creating the Cultural Gardens and in developing the German Cultural Garden. Like the Hebrew Garden before it, the first German cultural figures to be recognized were poet-philosophers (Goethe, Schiller, and Heine), musicians (Bach and Beethoven) and writers (von Hutten). The German Cultural Garden expanded their honored cultural heros to include artist Durer, dramatist/critic Lessing, educator Froebel, physical culturist Jahn, and scientist Humboldt. In the 21st century the Garden recognizes “Balaskapelle” or traditional, German, brass band music with its annual Conrad Mizer/Karl Wolfram concert in the Garden with regional German-American bands and singers. Conrad Mizer was a 19th century German emmigrant who first started “Fruhschoppenmusic” or public park concerts in the area and then went on to be one of those instrumental in the founding of the predecessor organizations of the Cleveland Orchestra.”

Ripples on the Pond

Mapleside Farms

Today’s Photo: Ripples on the Pond

This is a photo of the small pond at the bottom of hill at Mapleside Farms in Brunswick, Ohio. By taking the photo low to the ground with a wide angle lens it creates an illusion that the pond is much larger than it actually is.

I hope everyone has a great Veterans Day and a great weekend. I will be out of the county until Monday afternoon but I am still hoping to post a photo before the day is over.

Today’s Photo: Bike on Euclid

This is a photo of a bike that was locked up on Euclid Avenue near the Idea Center and the Playhouse Square theaters. Biking is an excellent way to get around if you live in the city. It is also a great way to see the city if just want to slow down and see the sights. Here is some information about a company that offers bicycle tours in Northeast Ohio:

The company aims to bringing fitness, fun and adventure together on Cleveland-area bicycle trails, while promoting interest in regional tourism and history. This Old House

Today’s Photo: This Old House

This photo is of a very old log cabin located within Greenleaf Park in Medina County. As an amateur Genealogist I not only find this
home very interesting only because of its age but also because it was built by my wife’s 5th Great Grandfather. The cabin was built about 1817 when Abraham Hard moved his family from Vermont to Medina County, Ohio. Today this cabin is open to the public.

Medina County Farm

Today’s Photo: Medina Farm

I know the name of this blog is Cleveland in HDR but I intend on sharing photos from all around Northeast Ohio (and maybe a few from
my world travels now and then). I was driving down Pearl Rd. towards Medina the other day when I saw this farm. I just had to stop and take a photo.
